Technology is everywhere. From our phones, to cars, workplaces
and homes, artificial intelligence (AI) exists and shapes our
lives. Is this a good thing? Or does this affect the human
condition? In this episode, we will debate the role of AI versus
‘ancient intelligence’ – guidance and ‘tools’ from human
sources.
Humans have always looked to improve the quality of their
lives, even back in ancient times. Ancient philosophers were aware
that in order to become the best version of yourself, you need to
live with virtues (Aristotle) and this is still highly relevant
today. However, unlike ancient people, modern humans have new tools
in the form of technology and AI which are also trying to capture
our attention.
From machines playing board games in 1950s, society is
expected to move to an AI driven world of convenience. But what
impact will this have on us? Will this be different for millennials
versus baby boomers? And does our dependence on technology
potentially explain differences between groups?
Pete explores the link between technology usage and happiness
and explains why happiness has plateaued since 1950s, despite more
disposable cash and choices. Since the advent of AI, our decision
making abilities have been reduced and increased multitasking and
Pete describes why we need to take bold action if we are to regain
our ability to live life to the fullest.
In this episode, you will learn:
1. Why taking a three month holiday
might not be as great as it first seems;
2. Why the idea of a work-life balance
is a myth;
3. How to put down the smartphone and
look up by following PERMA.

with technology different to your parents or children? Share with
