Mi365 Daily Intentions

Jan 23, 2018

On January 1st, enthusiasm is in the air. We are reinvigorated after a Christmas break and often motivated to make significant changes in our lives. However, fast-forward several weeks and the numbers don't look too good - 92% of us will have broken our New Year's resolution and slipped back into our old ways. This special 4-part podcast series is designed to help you stay in the 8%, offering practical tools, tips and strategies for how to have your best year yet.

In Parts 1 and 2, Pete discussed transforming our resolutions into revolutions and our choice of driving force - desperation vs. inspiration. In Part 3, Pete discusses the mechanics of achieving our goals through the power of habits and effective habit formation.

We are all made up of a series of habits, designed to help us survive and act instinctively during stressful periods. Habits are often perceived to be either 'good' or 'bad', but in reality, habits are simply a series of thoughts or actions designed to provide a standard outcome. Pete challenges us to think about what habits we have and more importantly, asks us to question whether our habits serve us in achieving our goals. Pete goes on to discuss the art of excellence as a set of habits rather than a single act; sharing practical tools including a visualisation exercise to help develop the Excellence mindset.

Really enjoyed this podcast. As it progressed it became obvious that the Habit Busting Formula is simple. Just choose one thing and focus on that one habit until it becomes automatic. Working on one thing at a time is manageable and more likely to succeed.
Thanks Pete going to make my list right now!

Takeaway. Stop seeing my habits as good or bad. Rather do they serve me or not. Start small. Tackle one change at a time. Need to develop patience for that!!!

Another powerful podcast I loved when pete, said it’s ok to be really bad at a habit but to skip it’s a no no which for me is my journaling and being consistent I need to get better at it but so far this year I’ve journaled every day
